Book Review📚 Tea Country - A tale of loss & love🔖

QOTD - Do you prefer Tea or coffee?

Set against the lush backdrop of the Dooars tea estates, this contemporary narrative weaves together adventure, love, nostalgia, and tragedy in a compelling tapestry. The arrival of TRISHA, a young American field biologist researching human-animal conflict, sets the stage for a deeply immersive story. Her interactions with the local community, particularly with Brojen, who shares her passion for nature despite his traumatic past, are both heartwarming and poignant.

Brojen’s loss of his mother to a leopard attack underscores the personal stakes of the human-animal conflict, adding a layer of emotional depth. The sudden coma of Bhanu, the revered family patriarch, unravels dark secrets, including his dangerous obsession with an aphrodisiacal mad honey, revealing a fractured family beneath the surface of respectability.

The budding romance between Trisha and Joy adds a tender subplot, as Joy’s involvement in Trisha’s research brings to light the harsh realities of elephant electrocution, forest fires, and poaching. The narrative deftly explores themes of desire, prestige, contempt, and love through glimpses into the characters' past lives, painting a rich portrait of disjointed family dynamics.

This novel is a captivating exploration of the intersection between humanity and nature, where personal histories and environmental challenges collide, creating a story that is both thought-provoking and deeply moving.

The way author captivates our focus & navigates us through the greenary, was very interesting. Narration & writing style seems to be on point. Overall a perfect read alongside a coffee on a rainy day.
